Care for Your Pets: Guard Their Health and Mood

Pets are part of our family. They cannot tell us when they feel unwell, so we need to watch closely for signs of poor health and shifting moods. Caring for a pet means more than simply giving it food and shelter. It includes daily care, disease prevention and emotional companionship.

Proper feeding lays the foundation for good health. Choose suitable food based on your pet’s breed and age, and stick to regular feeding portions. Never feed them human snacks. Foods like chocolate, onions and grapes are highly toxic to pets. Always provide fresh clean water. Clean their beds and toys regularly and keep the space well-ventilated to reduce bacteria and parasites. Groom them often, trim their nails, and clean ears for cats and dogs to prevent skin problems.

Prevention helps pets stay away from illnesses. Timely vaccinations protect them from fatal diseases such as canine distemper and feline panleukopenia. Do regular internal and external deworming against fleas, mites and intestinal parasites. Take your pet for a full health check-up every year, and arrange more frequent checks for senior pets. Many diseases show no obvious symptoms in the early stage.

Besides physical health, pets also have feelings. They feel lonely, anxious and stressed. Dogs need walks and playtime. Cats need cat trees and toys to release energy. Loss of appetite, hiding, excessive licking or unusual barking may signal bad mood or sickness. Spend time staying with them and keep a steady routine to make them feel safe.

Companionship works both ways. With careful observation, scientific care and early prevention, we can help our furry friends stay happy and healthy for a long time.
